Embedding Adoption into the Operating Model from Day One

Many change programmes treat adoption as a final-stage activity. Training is delivered, communications are issued, and the programme is declared complete. Subsequent performance data frequently reveals that the intended behaviours and processes have not taken hold.

Sustainable adoption requires that the target operating model, role definitions, performance measures and governance arrangements are designed with adoption in mind from the outset. Change management activity must be integrated into the delivery plan rather than sequenced after technical go-live.

Organisations that embed adoption metrics into stage-gate criteria and Board reporting achieve higher rates of sustained benefit realisation than those that treat adoption as a post-implementation concern.
